A friend or coworker is pushing you over the edge today -- even though you know perfectly well that they don't mean anything serious. Just take a deep breath and let them make a fool of themselves.

CE to help Moldova implement democracy consolidation programs

In 2008-2009, the Council of Europe will be helping Moldova to implement democracy consolidation programs.

The drafts of the programs were presented by Moldovan Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Valeriu Ostalep in Strasbourg on Tuesday at a working meeting on projecting the Council of Europe’s work with the North Caucasus countries, Ukraine and Moldova within the frameworks of cooperation programs.

Ostalep confirmed the Republic of Moldova’s irreversible course for integration with the European Union, and emphasized the importance of the Council of Europe and European Union assistance programs for the development of democratic institutions in Moldova.

The said programs for Moldova are targeted at supporting free and fair elections, freedom of expression and information, media freedom, shaping of civil society leaders, support for the Roma people.

Valeriu Ostalep met with Ivan Koejikov, Deputy Director of the CE Secretary General’s Office, and discussed with him various aspects of cooperation between Moldova and the Council of Europe.

The Moldovan Deputy Minister will have a meeting with Jean-Louis Laurens, the Council of Europe Director General of Political Affairs, later today.  // Infotag
