Austria to firmly support Moldova to fulfill European integration aspirations, Austrian chancellor says

President Vladimir Voronin has met Austrian Federal Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer within his visit to Austria, according to the presidential press service.

The two officials discussed the present stage of the bilateral relations and the prospects for developing the cooperation between Moldova and Austria.

Vladimir Voronin thanked the Austrian authorities for the support given to open the common visa issuing centre in Chisinau, for the assistance offered to abolish the consequences of the last summer drought, as well as for the active participation of Austrian experts in the European Union Border Assistance Mission for Ukraine and Moldova (EUBAM).

The president congratulated the Austrian chancellor on the occasion of the ending of the first year of the Federal Government's activity. The president wished Alfred Gusenbauer, who also holds the office of sport minister, success in the organisation of the European Football Championship next summer.

Austria will firmly support Moldova in the political, economic and humanitarian fields, as well as for the fulfillment of the country's European integration aspirations, Alfred Gusenbauer.

The Austrian chancellor stressed the importance to consolidate the Moldovan-Austrian dialogue in diverse areas, and expressed conviction that his official visit to Moldova, scheduled for 2008, will contribute to deepening and extending the bilateral cooperation.

The Moldovan president will return to Chisinau on 12 January morning.  // Moldpres
