The European Party: the governing system is trying to impose artificial barriers on the way of the opposition
The European Party (EP) believes that the governing system is trying to impose artificial barriers to the opposition so that it limits its access to power in the parliamentary elections from 2009. The “artificial barriers” are called the last changes in the Electoral Code, voted by the Parliament in the first reading before the winter holiday.
In a statement of EP, cited by DECA-press Agency, it is specified that this fact refers to the raise of the electoral scale, the prohibition of electoral blocks, the interdiction put to persons with double citizenship to run for a function or a post. „The power feels that it has serious problems, because the tendency of the electorate to vote for democratic forces was noticed at the general local elections from this year. Yet, all these barriers will just make the electorate more responsible for their deeds. This one is mature enough to understand the real goals of the current governing system by means of the law promoted in the Parliament”, the cited documents says. EP believes that these changes in the electoral legislation will increase the degree of responsibility of the opposition parties, which “will find some solutions to face the new realities”. „As a result, these improvements will give an opposite effect wished by the communists and will hasten the moment of production of interchange in the governing system”, the cited document also says. // DECA-Press Publication date: 12 January 2008 Source: Archive
