The parliamentary opposition asks the president to give explanations regarding his declarations about a possible change of the symbols of the state
At the beginning of the plenary sitting from Thursday of the Parliament, several opposition deputies expressed their revolt regarding president Vladimir Voronin's declarations, according to which this fact suggests the modification of the state symbols.
As DECA-press Agency communicates, the opposition deputies also showed their revolt about the anti-Romanian attacks of the head of the state. Leonid Bujor, representative of the Alliance „Moldova Noastra”, Vitalia Pavlicenco, leader of the National-Liberal Party, and Vladimir Filat, leader of the Liberal-Democratic Party, asked the president to give explanations at the Parliament about this problem. Vitalia Pavlicenco proposed even the constitution of a special commission which would check the president's „mental status”. The communists gave a good reply – they declared that some opposition deputies must pass a medical control. They reminded that the head of the state cannot be obliged to come to the Parliament, he may be only invited. At the end, the speaker Marian Lupu didn't even put into discussion the problem of inviting Vladimir Voronin at the Parliament and the opposition didn't get the expected explanations. // DECA-Press Publication date: 21 December 2007 Source: Archive
