CEC intends to ask for the punishment of persons guilty of the failure of elections from Buteni
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) intends to aks for the punishment of persons guilty of the failure recorded on Sunday while trying to elect the mayor of the village of Buteni, district of Hancesti, Iurie Ciocan, CEC secretary, declared, cited by DECA-press Agency.
On Sunday, several hundreds of supporters of the candidate of „Moldova Noastra” Alliance (AMN), Anatol Postolachi, blocked the access to the polling station as a sign of protest towards the exclusion of their favourite candidate from the electoral competition for some frauds he is supposed to have committed. The same day, some conflicts between Anatol Postolachi's supporters and the ones of the Communist candidate Alexei Ieremia took place. The attempt from Sunday closed the series of failures recorded in the case of elections of the mayor of Buteni. In summer, Anatol Postolachi was elected mayor twice, but each time, the results were cancelled. In October, CEC made one more attempt, but this one failed too, because Anatol Postolachi's supporters blocked the access to the polling station. Iurie Ciocan said that the guilty persons would be punished. After that, CEC will fix the date of new elections. CEC is going to decided if these will be new or repeated elections. // DECA-Press Publication date: 18 December 2007 Source: Archive
