Members of Afghanistan's parliament were reported dead in a suicide blast during a ceremony in the country's northeast, media reports said Tuesday.

CNN reported three lawmakers were among the dead while the BBC said five members of parliament were killed when a suicide bomber struck a ceremony celebrating a new sugar factory in Baghlan province.

The death toll was expected to rise with more than 100 people -- including government officials, women and children -- reported dead or injured.

The BBC and CNN quoted sources saying prominent opposition official and warlord Mustafa Kazimi was among the dead.  // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
