Blackmail of British royal surfaces
A member of Britain's royal family was blackmailed for alleged cocaine use and a sex video, the Sunday Times of London said.
Two men threatened an unnamed member of the royal family with going public with the allegations unless they received more than $100,000, the newspaper reported. The two men contacted the royal family with the evidence on Aug. 2 alleging an aide supplied a royal with an envelope of cocaine. The men also claimed they had a video of the royal receiving a sexual act, Sky News reports. A former spokesman for Buckingham Palace, Dickie Arbiter, questioned the legitimacy of the claims. “It’s taken six weeks for it to come to light, so how serious is the allegation?” the BBC quoted Arbiter as saying. Both men remain in custody for one charge each of blackmail. A court hearing is scheduled for Dec. 20. // Copyright 2007 by United Press International Publication date: 29 October 2007 Source: Archive
