A friend or coworker is pushing you over the edge today -- even though you know perfectly well that they don't mean anything serious. Just take a deep breath and let them make a fool of themselves.

Protesters to picket Muslim family day

Organizers of a Muslim family day in Texas say they will ignore protesters who accuse them of supporting terrorist organizations overseas.

"This is a group that wants to decide who can and who cannot have rights in America. I look at it as a lot of ignorant hype," said Mohamed Elibiary, president of the Freedom and Justice Foundation in Plano, Texas.

Elibiary is part of the North Texas Islamic community planning a family day on Oct. 14 at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington. The Islamic Circle of North America and other area Muslim groups are sponsoring the day, the Fort Worth (Texas) Star-Telegram reported Friday.

Joe Kaufman, of Coral Gables, Fla, has accused the Islamic Circle of supporting terrorism and said he plans to bring as many as a dozen protesters to the Muslim family day.

Kaufman, chairman of Americans Against Hate, said he expects police will keep the two groups from having direct contact, he told the Star-Telegram.

"We only want to have a peaceful demonstration," Kaufman said. "We'll be holding signs. I'll be giving my speech, and that's it."  // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
