Exchange of remarks between the ministries of Foreign Affairs from Chisinau and Bucharest

On Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE) from Chisinau diffused a press release which calls the authorities form Bucharest to establish a function, transparent and efficient mechanism of issuing visas for the citizens of Republic of Moldova, DECA-press Agency informs.

This press release was diffused several days after a press release of the Moldovan Ministry of Domestic Affairs which affirmed that important representatives from the Embassy of Romania to Chisinau were involved in an illegal network of obtaining Romanian visas.

In this context, MAEIE asserts that before that, it attracted the attention of the Romanian part on the fact that it owns information regarding the possible involvement of Romanian diplomats in fraud schemas in the process of visa issuing. In addition, in summer, a series of appeals referring to the non-adequate behaviour of the representatives of the Romanian frontier police towards the citizens of Republic of Moldova, the ministry from Chisinau affirms.

Last Saturday, the Romanian minister of Foreign Affairs, Adrian Cioroianu, showed his dissatisfaction with the fact that he hadn’t been announced by the authorities of Moldova about the violations regarding the visa issuing process at the Embassy of Romania from Chisinau. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs from Bucharest asked the Moldova par, through the Embassy of Republic of Moldova to Bucharest and the Embassy of Romania to Chisinau, details regarding the information presented in time of the press conference from August 17th 2007. The head of the Romanian diplomacy asked for some explanations referring the information according to which a Romanian diplomat to Chisinau was accused of taking bribery. // DECA-Press
