The communists hope to receive support from the Church in the parliamentary elections from 2009, the press from Chisinau asserts

On Friday, several newspapers from Chisinau have published materials which affirmed that the Communist Party from Republic of Moldova (PCRM) will opt for the support of priests from the Metropolitan Church of Moldova in the parliamentary elections from 2009, DECA-press Agency transmits.

These publications reveal the fact that PCRM is revolted about the results recorded in the local elections from the current year (the communists’ share has been reduced from about 46% in 2005 up to 35-35% in 2007). Moreover, it looks for some solutions for the elections from 2009.

Vladimir VoroninThe press refers to a meeting of the priests recently held at the Monastery from Condrita, where the metropolitan bishop Vladimir and President Vladimir Voronin, leader of PCRM, participated. According to the materials cited from „Timpul de dimineata”, „Flux” and „Moldavskie vedomosti”, the head of the state call the priests to make election contraband in the communists’ favour. To be easier to convince them, they told them that “the fist communist in the history was Jesus Christ”.

The head of the state also made the priests understand that the situation of the church has changed for better after the communists have come to power in 2001. // DECA-Press
