The Moldovan youth protest against the visa procedures

Moldova.ORG -- Scores of the youth protested today in the centre of Chisinau asking for the possibility to travel easy and free in the European states. They say the procedure to obtain the visas is taking a long time and it’s very expensive.

“We don’t want to stay anymore after the wall established on the Prut river,” declared the organizers of the meeting – the young leaders of the „Moldova Noastră” Alliance. They showed a skeptic attitude towards the negotiations conducted by the Moldovan authorities regarding the facilitation of the visa procedures.

“We want to get the attention of the EU’s officials on the difficulties we have to face in our developing process.” These are some of the titles on the protesting boards: “No visa,” “Europe is our home.”

The participants of the meeting got signatures to support the cancellation of the visa procedure, including for the young citizens of Moldova. The organizers of the meeting plan to get the signatures of the youth from other European states and will present those to the European Union.

“We got ourselves the image of a cheap and unskilled labor force, but we can demonstrate that by studying and by taking part in a developed and progressive educational system, we can become professionals in a variety of areas and not become constructors, nannies, sellers or slaves”, one of the organizers said.
