Statement by Mircea Snegur

Today, on February 4 Mircea Snegur, being the co-chairman of the Democratic Convention bloc, has made a statement on its behalf at the beginning of the plenary sitting of the Moldovan Parliament, INTERLIK News agency reports. The statement says that the withdrawal of 9 Popular Front and other parties members from the Democratic Convention after the debates on the candidacy for Premier does not signify the fragmentation of the Convention.

Mircea Snegur has clarified that it transpired after 17 deputies from the Party of Revival and Consent had offered Nicolae Andronic for the office of the government head. Iurie Rosca’s boosters did not agree upon it and declared that Valentin Dolganiuc should occupy Premier’s chair. The statement, signed by 17 deputies from the PRCM expresses regret in connection with the rift, but it claims that the Democratic Convention continue existing as a parliamentary faction.

Ala Mindicanu, representing the Christian-democratic League of Moldova’s Women followed Mircea Snegur. She emphasized that despite of all the cataclysms and sorting out among the rightist they must come out to the local elections in a joint bloc in order not to let the leftists to take power, INTERLIK News agency reports.
