Nothing goes exactly as you'd expect it to today, for reasons that defy logic. Don't spend too much time worrying about it, though -- you need to just relax and deal with things as they arise.

Obama neighborhood parking restricted

Parking restrictions in the area surrounding Democratic Party nominee for president Barack Obama's Chicago home has irked some of his neighbors.

City crews installed extra No Parking signs in an area of Obama's South Side Chicago home, which residents say parking already is scarce, the Chicago Tribune reported.

It looks like there's going to be a parade but there isn't one, said Melanie Kelly, who lived across the street from Obama's home for 10 years. It's just a little crazy. It's like a circus outside.

Chicago police deferred parking questions to the Secret Service, which issued a statement: Any visible changes in security will be coordinated with the Chicago Police Department and other city officials. We will make every effort to ensure that any adjustments in security affecting area residents will be as unobtrusive as possible.

Secret Service agents have been friendly, neighbors said. But still, people say they're are having a hard time because of the restrictions.

My mother had to park four blocks away yesterday when she came to my house, Tamieka Smith, 27, an Obama supporter and neighbor, told the Tribune. It's an inconvenience but he needs the extra protection. Imagine how it will be if he wins.
