Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko instructed Prime Minister Yulia Timoshenko to hasten the settlement of the conflict over the Dnestrovsk-2 Hydroelectric Plant with Moldova. A part of the plant’s dam is located on Moldova’s territory. In the future, the lower part of the reservoir of the Dnestrovsk Hydroelectric Storage Plant would be also situated on Moldova’s territory, REPORTER.MD informs, quoting the presidential press service of Ukraine.

Yushchenko also demanded that the budget for 2008 is modified so that it includes more financial resources for the Dnestrovsk Hydroelectric Storage Plant, whose construction is behind schedule because the Ukrainian authorities could not reach an agreement over a credit with the World Bank.

About US$540 million is needed to finish the construction of the Dnestrovsk Hydroelectric Storage Plant. Another approximately US$190 million is needed to put in commission the first complex.//REPORTER.MD
