Pregnant teen killed for baby?

A woman found dead with her abdomen cut open in western Pennsylvania may be a missing pregnant 18-year-old, a medical examiner said Saturday.

The body was discovered in the Wilkinsburg apartment of Andrea Curry-Demus, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. She was arrested Thursday when she brought a newborn baby to a hospital, claiming she had just given birth to the child.

Dr. Karl Williams, the Allegheny County medical examiner, said the body appeared to be that of Kia Johnson of McKeesport, although positive identification must await an examination of dental records. Williams said the death has been ruled a homicide.

Curry-Demus told police she bought the baby for $1,000 from a woman named Tina. She was being held on child endangerment charges Saturday.

Williams, in a press release, said the woman found in Curry-Demus' home appeared to have been dead for at least two days. The body's face was covered with plastic, fastened with duct tape.

Investigators also found placenta.
