Members of PSD and PPCD join PL
A number of members of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and of the Christian-Democratic People’s Party (PPCD) left their parties and joined the Liberal Party (PL).
A communiqué from PL says that the former PSD and PPCD members made such a decision because they were not satisfied with the policy pursued by the leaders of the two parties. All the members of PSD from Floreni village in Anenii Noi district decided to withdraw from the party and join PL. Twelve signatories of a statement submitted to PL say that the alliance between PSD and the Communist Party in the Chisinau Municipal Council and the destruction of the democratic coalition by the secretary general of PSD Eduard Musuc can be regarded as betrayal of the democratic principles and aspirations for which the PSD members fought for many years. The mayor of Burlanesti village in Edinet district, Alexei Gheras has also announced that he leaves PSD. The PSD members from Drochia town also left the party and joined PL. Some of the members of the PPCD branch in Ungheni district that disagree with the policy promoted by the party’s leader Iurie Rosca joined the PL branch in this district. The former president of PPCD from Drochia, Vasile Bogatu did the same. Early in June, the factions of PL, the Our Moldova Alliance Party and of the Liberal Democratic Party issued a statement, accusing the Social Democratic Party of betraying the democratic coalition in the Chisinau Council. The three parties said that PSD allied with the Communist Party, the Christian-Democratic People’s Party and the Humanist Party of Moldova.//REPORTER.MD Publication date: 11 July 2008 Source: Archive
