U.N. secretary-general visits China

Chinese President Hu Jintao, in a meeting Wednesday with U.S. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, said that China will support the United Nations.

Ban is in Beijing, where he also met with Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao.

Hu said that China supports reform at the United Nations.

The United Nations will continue to support a one-China policy, denying a seat to Taiwan, Ban said. He praised China's role in the six-party talks that negotiated North Korea's agreement to dismantle its nuclear weapons program.

Ban also said that he hopes China will play a greater role in efforts to meet the Millennium Development Goals, something Wen said he supports.
