EU is interested in solving Transdniestrian conflict as soon as possible, Benita Ferrero-Waldner
The EU is interested in solving the Transdniestrian conflict as soon as possible and will support the measures aimed at settling it, the European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighborhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner said in Brussels on May 27.
The European official stressed the necessity of maintaining a continuous dialogue on the Transdniestrian problem in the 5+2 format, stressing that the EU pays special attention to the implementation of the confidence building measures between Chisinau and Tiraspol. For his part, President Vladimir Voronin said that Moldova would like the Transdniestria conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 conflict to resume as soon as possible and announced his intention to discuss this subject with his counterparts from Russia and Ukraine during the Informal CIS Summit that will take place in Saint Petersburg on June 6-7.
