Florida man owes $700,000 in child support

A Florida man who prosecutors say lived a life of luxury while his ex-wife and children suffered has been sentenced to 24 months in jail.

Robert Abraham is accused of failing to pay nearly $700,000 in child support during the past 20 years, WESH-TV, Orlando, reports.

Abraham's son, Reed, testified in court that his father's failure to support the family pretty much ruined his childhood.

I've lived a life without a mother because she's been doing other people's jobs trying to get this court case heard and trying to get justice for her children, he said.

While Abraham was failing to make court-ordered support payments, he was buying expensive houses in his mother's name and taking vacations.

In addition to the jail time, Abraham must pay $1,000 a month towards the nearly $700,000 he owes.
