Communist MPs says convention on small border traffic is artificially politicized
"The issue of the convention on small-scale border traffic with Romania is artificially politicized by certain Moldovan political forces,” the Communist MP Grigore Petrenco said in the Parliament.
According to the MP, the parliamentary group of the Communist Party subscribes to the position expressed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and reiterates that the convention should cover the entire territory of Moldova Petrenco said that the Moldovan authorities have always expressed readiness to solve this problem as soon as possible. The EU-Moldova agreement to facilitate the issuing of short term visas that came into force this year contains a political statement by which Moldova expresses readiness to start the talks over the regime of the small border traffic with Romania. “Together with our neighbors, we must create favorable conditions for the citizens and take steps to make sure that the borders are not a barrier to the trade and regional cooperation. We are ready to sign the two agreements today. The question is if the Romanian authorities are ready to do the same,” Petrenco said// Reporter.MD Publication date: 17 May 2008 Source: Archive
