PLDM submits lists with signatures in support of signing convention on small border traffic to Foreign Ministry
The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) submitted the collected 5,810 signatures that support the signing of the convention on small-scale border traffic between Moldova and Romania and the resolutions of the meetings held in 13 border districts to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration on May 14.
PLDM voiced hope that the people’s will expressed at the public meetings of May 11 will be taken into account by the Moldovan authorities and will serve as a stimulus for finalizing the talks and signing the convention as soon as possible. PLDM plans to hold the People’s Assembly for Free Movement within the Border Zone of the EU in the Square of the National Opera House in Chisinau on May 25. If the convention on small-scale border traffic is signed, about one million Moldovans will be allowed to move freely within the zone bordering the European Union using a special permit issued for a period of up to five years free of charge // Reporter.MD Publication date: 16 May 2008 Source: Archive
