Marian Lupu to meet Evgheni Shevchuk in Brussels

Speaker Marian Lupu is paying a working visit to Belgium during May 13-15. While in Brussels, he will have an informal meeting with the president of Transdniestria’s Supreme Soviet Evgheni Shevchuk.

According to the Moldovan Parliament’s press service, the visit aims to strengthen the bilateral dialogue with the EU so that it supports Moldova’s European integration efforts.

Marian Lupu will have an informal meeting with Evgheni Shevchuk, who will take part in a roundtable meeting on trafficking in human beings. The meeting will be also attended by the EU Special Representative for Moldova Kalman Mizsei and other European officials.

The Moldovan Speaker will have a series of meetings at the European Parliament and at the office of the Secretary General of the Council of the European Union to discuss the possibilities of developing the relations between Moldova and the EU.

The program of the visit also includes meetings with the Vice President of the European Parliament Marek Siwiec, the Chairman of the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee Jacek Saryusz –Wolski and other officials.

Marian Lupu will be accompanied by a parliamentary delegation that will participate in the roundtable meeting themed “Combating Trafficking in Human Beings: cooperation between the Parliament and NGOs, the situation on both banks of the Dniester” in Brussels on May 14. The event is organized by the European Parliament’s Delegation for Moldova and the EU Special Representative for Moldova in cooperation with the British Embassy in Chisinau.//// Reporter.MD
