Moldovan authorities observe Victory Day by laying flowers to monument to Stephan the Great and Eternitate memorial
President Vladimir Voronin accompanies by Speaker Marian Lupu, Prime Minister Zinaida Greceanyi, members of the Government and MPs marked the Victory Day by laying flowers to the monument to Stephan the Great and to Eternitate memorial on May 9.
“Today, on May 9, we again came together. It is hard to believe, but it is already 63 years of the Victory Day. The merciless time takes the lives of the last heroes and eyewitnesses of this terrible war. But the ranks of those for which the war of 1939-1945 is not a simple global military confrontation, but the most dramatic fight between good and evil, light and darkness, humanism and misanthropy in the history of the mankind do not decrease in number,” said President Vladimir Voronin in his speech delivered at the memorial complex Eternitate. According to the head of state, this Victory of freedom over slavery becomes more and more important and valuable. "The politicians that consider that the disregard for the heroism of those that died in the war can combine with the democratic ideals should not cherish illusions. These so-called politicians must know that despite their ultramodern camouflage, they will remain fascists,” the head of state said.//REPORTER.MD Publication date: 12 May 2008 Source: Archive
