Oposition marks Europe day

The National Liberal Party (NLP), the Acţiunea Europeană [European Action] socio-political movement, and the youth organizations of the Moldova Noastra Alliance (MNA) and of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (LDPM) marked the Europe Day last Friday.

The NLP organized a meeting in front of the National Opera and Ballet Theater. The participants in the meeting unfolded the flags of the European Union, of EU Member States and of NATO. They spoke out for marking the Europe Day in Moldova as an official holiday. Last Thursday, the Democratic Party filed a corresponding bill with the Parliament’s Permanent Bureau.

The participants demanded Moldova's integration into Europe, but called upon parties to abstain from using this topic as electoral bait.

Some of them also maintained that May 9 should be celebrated not solely as the official Victory Day and the Day of commemoration of those who died for the republic’s independence, but also as the day of the state independence of Romania – May 9, 1877.  // Infotag
