Serbs vote in general electionSerbs went to the polls Sunday in a general election many expect will decide whether the country moves toward joining the European Union. Tomislav Nikolic of the Radical Party said nearly a decade of going along with free market economics and submitting to the EU have left Serbs poor, embarrassed and with less land. Nikolic would rather have a close relationship with Moscow, Euronews.net reported. President Boris Tadic and many Democratic followers have said getting into the EU is the best method for gaining investments, providing work and improving living conditions. It is predicted Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica will have a strong say in forming the next government, as a winning majority for either party appeared unlikely, the report said. Kostunica has developed strong ties with the Radicals' stance on Kosovo and probably won't rebuild his relationship with the Democrats, who he said have submitted to the EU.
