Summations to start in Rezko trial

Testimony has finished after two months in the federal corruption trial of Chicago developer Antoin Tony Rezko.

Lawyers are expected to begin their closing arguments Monday, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Rezko, nationally known as an early supporter of U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, now leading in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, allegedly tried to milk the state boards that control teachers pension funds and hospitals. Prosecutors say he exploited his relationship with Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

Defense attorneys put on no witnesses during the trial. Instead, they focused on undermining the credibility of the star prosecution witness, Stuart Levine, a member of the boards involved, who pleaded guilty. They hope jurors will see Levine as a man willing to lie to save his own skin.
