Experts consider the separation of activity of parties and financing of parties by means of separate laws premature

Experts consider precocious the separation of activity of parties and financing of parties by means of separate laws, the representatives of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) and the representatives of Council of Europe (CE) declared on Wednesday, in time of a seminar for journalists who write on the topic of financing of parties and electoral campaigns, DECA-press informs.

The CEC secretary, Iurie Ciocan, said that the new law of parties, which regulates both aspects, is good enough and “it is not ok to make this division”. “Parties cannot work without money. Thus, the problem must be considered as a complex one”, he said.

Marcin Walecki, expert of Council of Europe, said that he doesn’t consider that this division is not welcome now in this context. According to his words, laws are not perfect, that is why, anywhere in the world, they change once in two-three years.

The expert mentioned that it would be good to base the parliamentary elections from 2009 on the new Law of parties, and after that, it will be seen what is good and what is bad, acting depending on the context. // DECA-Press
