Greceanii Government to have a new ministry
On Thursday the Parliament voted in both readings a set of amendments providing for the establishment of the Ministry of Constructions and Territory Development. The draft initiated by President Vladimir Voronin was adopted with the vote of the communist parliamentary group. The opposition MPs did not participate in the voting, and three non-affiliated MPs voted against it.
The new ministerial structure, the 18th, will take over the authorities of the Construction and Territorial Development Agency and Water Agency of Moldova. The new ministry will be in charge of the development and promotion of the government policy in territorial development, urbanism, architecture, constructions and water supply systems. The amendments proposed by the President also provide for the liquidation of the Standardization and Metrology Service the authorities of which will be taken over by the Ministry of Economy and Trade. During the discussions, AMN MPs asked to postpone for the next week the debates in second reading, motivating that they are willing to submit a number of amendments that imply preservation of the Standardization and Metrology Service. The voting rejected AMN MPs’ proposal. Until now, the Government included 17 ministries, 7 agencies, 3 services, 2 bureaus, the Chamber of Licensing and the Centre for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption. According to Speaker Marian Lupu, the composition of the new Government headed by Zinaida Grecianii is to be approved during the special meeting of the Parliament on Monday, March 31. // BASA-Press Publication date: 28 March 2008 Source: Archive
