President Vladimir Voronin has highly appreciated Vasile Tarlev’s achievements, due to who "the Government reached stability which can not be compared with year 2001".

The president said that Tarlev was very active, but "due to the fact that big efforts must be made further on, it is necessary to make a change".

"I honestly, with all my heart appreciate the results attained by Vasile Tarlev, but we need to solve some issues related to the Transnistrian conflict settlement and some economic ones." Voronin said.

The president added that seven years is a hard burden and "we must be conscious and care about Tarlev".

According to Voronin, the resignation is a manly step for the part of Tarlev. The president asked the premier to be in office till a new person is appointed.

"We have done much but we must give a chance to the younger ones." Tarlev said.

Premier Vasile Tarlev submitted the resignation within the Wednesday sitting, on March, 19, 2008.  // DECA-Press
