Artur Cozma preserves his post of minister of Culture and Tourism

On Thursday, Artur Cozma preserved the function of minister of Culture and Tourism, because the majority faction of the Communist party was against the initiative of 16 opposition deputies to dismiss him for irresponsible attitude towards the monuments protected by the state.

The proposal of dismissal is included in a simple resolution, elaborated by the deputy of “Moldova Noastra” Alliance, Veaceslav Untila, and signed by other 15 colleague of his from the opposition, DECA-press communicates.

Veaceslav Untila specified that the decision was motivated by a concrete case – the illegal demolition of the manor house „Teodosiu” from the centre of the capital in August 2005. He reminded that, after that, the Government proposed a law project which registered post-factum this demolition.

The minister couldn’t give clear answers to the questions of the opposition: Who ordered the demolition of the Manor House?; What documents was this decision based on?; who demolished it? etc.

In exchange, Artur Cozma was even with them when he started to talk about the situation of monuments protected by the state. He accused the local authorities from Chisinau that, by means of the authorizations emitted in the last few years, they permitted the demolition of 96 art monuments and put other one hundred monuments in danger.
He also said that in the case of the Manor House „Teodosiu”, things are not clear too. According to his words, this house was illegally privatized in 1998, and after that, it has changed from owner to another. The minister asserts that now, the owner of the Manor House is a foreign economic agent.

Communists were convinced by the minister’s arguments and rejected the resolution. // DECA-Press
