Russia is ready to guarantee the territorial recovery of Moldova in exchange of its refuse to join NATO, the Moscow publication „Komersant” wrote in the foreword of an interview with the Moldovan president, Vladimir Voronin, cited by DECA-press Agency.

Documents of this kind can be concluded in the near future, and Voronin says that Republic of Moldova could leave GUAM as well.

Asked by „Komersant” why he is so optimistic as far as the resolution of the Transnistrian problem is concerned, Voronin declared that „the day when this problem will be solved is close”.

„My optimism is dye to the relations between Moldova and Russia”, the Moldovan president said, denying the fact that the authorities from Chisnau would negotiation in secret with Moscow, and the problem will be solved „on the basis of the Law about the special status of Transnistria, adopted in July 2005”.

Voronin affirms that the project of statement regarding the establishment of the permanent neutral status of the Republic of Moldova is to be elaborated. This document will be proposed for conclusion to Russia, Ukraine, USA, EU and OSCE.

President Voronin asserts that Moldova will not become a federation, it will be a unique state with two autonomies – Gagauzia and Transnistria. The last one will preserve everythin: the coat of arms, the flag, official languages (Moldovan, Russian and Ukrainian). Vornin also says that „definitely, the Moldovan language will be a state language in the Constitution, but the rest of languages will be used on their territory as it was before”.

Asked if he is not worried about the fact that incase Ukrainian's accession to NATO, Moldova will be caught between the member states of NATO, given the fact that Romania is also a part of the Alliance, the head of the Moldovan state said in the interview given to „Komersant” that „geography cannot be changed. We will become a tampon zone with a neutre status”. // DECA-Press
