Voronin and U.S. Ambassador Chaudhry discuss post-election Moldova

The future development of the Moldovan and American dialogue on several aspects, including under the Compact Program of the Millennium Challenges Corporation, was discussed in a meeting between President Vladimir Voronin and Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the USA to Moldova, Asif J. Chaudhry, on August 4.

According to the Presidency’s Press Service, the officials discussed the development of the political events in Moldova. The US Ambassador underlined the message of the chairman of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, John Kerry, that the preterm election is an important event for Moldova and he encourages the political dialogue in the post-election period in our country.

The head of state reiterated the position regarding the five principles recently put forward by the governing party, which are likely to constitute a foundation for the political dialogue and success of the future consensus to the interest of the society and Moldova, in general.

Among the Moldovan Communist Party's principles are: the joint activity to overcome the consequences of the world economic crisis, legislative and political activity towards a European modernization of Moldova, recognition of the reintegration of the state as a main task of the Moldovan Government, further development of the national policy of Moldova based on the consolidation and support of Moldovan identity and o ther ethnical minorities in the republic, maintenance and consolidation of the partnership between Moldova and the Russian Federation, as well as intensification of the country’s efforts in order to develop multilateral collaboration within the CIS.
