Voice of Russia: Angela Merkel will propose a federalist model for the resolution of the Transnistrian problem
The commentators of Voice of Russia affirm that German Chancellor Angela Merkel comes to Chisinau to present a resolution plan for the Transnistrian problem based on the federalist model.
“Angela Merkel, whose interest for the resolution of the separatist conflict in the Republic of Moldova is known for a long time, will provide in Chisinau solutions to this problem. Most likely, the “iron lady” of Germany will present Moldova a German model of federalization. This would mean constitutional reforms that would transform Transnistria (…) a kind of land of the Republic of Moldova”, notes Voice of Russia, quoted by Mediafax.
The Russian radio station also anticipates in its analysis that the plan of Chancellor Merkel will fail.
“But most experts believe the plan will fail, like 90% of solutions proposed by the European Union within the European Neighborhood Policy. The reasons of the future fail are similar to those of the past: a simplest transfer of a Western European model to a former Soviet state and Russophobia. This happened in Ukraine in 2004-2009 and now is going to take place in Moldova”, argues Voice of Russia.
