Vlad Filat: We would like the rights of Moldovans working in Russia to be respected
The relations with Russian Federation are strategic for Moldova, because Russia is one of the main trading partners of the country, stated the Prime Minister Vlad Filat before his visit to Moscow in an interview for the Russian news agency Itar-Tass. “I hope the visit will bring progress in terms of economic cooperation between the states”, mentioned Vlad Filat.
According to Vlad Filat, the economic cooperation, the humanitarian field, the cooperation within the CIS and EU, the resolution of the Transnistrian conflict, the cooperation in the energy sector, as well as the agreement on labor migration will be the main topics to be discussed with the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
“We would like the rights of our citizens working in Russia to be respected. An intergovernmental agreement on migration will be signed in the nearest future – we are close to finish all procedures in this regard”, specified Vlad Filat.
The Head of the Government said also that Moldova is interested in expanding the export of wine, vegetables, meat and other products. “We invite Russians to make investments in agriculture, energetic and other fields. There is a great potential for cooperation in innovation”, mentioned Vlad Flat specifying that “our government will never give empty promises to Russian investors, as it happened before”.
Referring to the relations between Moldova and EU, the Prime Minister mentioned that Moldova is a European country and that the Government will do its best to obtain a visa free regime with EU member countries. “At the same time we are heading to the East – the Agreement on Free Trade Zone with CIS is to be ratified by the Parliament”, declared Filat.
Also, during his visit to Moscow, Vlad Filat will discuss with Dmitry Medvedev gas prices, as well as the issue concerning the debt of the Transnistrian region.
