Violent attack of a member of the LDPM party at a communist meeting
A violent attack of a member of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova has taken place on 21.10.10 at a meeting with the members of the communist party in Ungheni town where was attending the President of the communist party Vladimir Voronin.
The victim is a resident of Ungheni, Anton Cotici, by the information provided by Unimedia news agency, the victim declares he was attacked by the bodyguards of Vladimir Voronin. Also the victim mentions that he was taken out of the meeting hall and beaten by the bodyguards. The motive of the aggression is in conformity to the declarations of the victim a question that disturbed the ex-President. An ambulance was called, the medical conclusions indicate that the person has several bruises and problems with a ligament at a leg, which creates him difficulties to move.
The reaction of the actual Prime minister and the President of the LDPM party, Vlad Filat was to request to the police and prosecutors to analyze this infringements of the law. The reaction of Vladimir Voronin was that he declared that the victim had an anti-social attitude at the meeting and his bodyguards were imposed to take him out of the room by force. The official lawyer of the Communist party Sergiu Sarbu declared that the accusations are serious lies and calumny at the address of the Communist party, and that the Communist party is ready to sue in the Court the LDPM.
On 22.10.10, demonstrations of youth requiring from the Communist party to not apply torture in the electoral campaign, protesting against torture, were held in front of the Residence of the Communist Party of Moldova.
Some leading members of the Communist Party are accused to have ordered mass applications of torture on the 9th of April 2009 against the young demonstrators, which attacked the buildings of Parliament and President’s Residence. Approximately 300 cases of torture and even some of sexual harassment and rape where declared in that period. A person was declared dead, as a result of the violent actions of the police.
