Violence in the electoral campaign
The electoral campaign in the Republic of Moldova is becoming more aggressive, and this is proved by violence cases registered. According to press service of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (LDPM), on November 6, in a village in the northern part of the country – Soroca rayon, a supporter of the Communist Party aggressed verbally a member of the Liberal Democratic Party and tried to attack him with a knife. The aggressor did not manage and then he pierced the wheels of the LDPM car, while yelling insults and threatening that the communists will come to power again.
The aggressor was identified and detained by the Soroca Police Commissariat, who are investigating the case.
Unfortunately this is not the first and only case of communists’ violent behavior in the campaign. On October 22 a supporter of the LDPM reported of having been beaten by the Vladimir Voronin’s bodyguards, for merely attempting to ask a question in a meeting organized by the latter, with voters of the Ungheni town of the Republic of Moldova. That time the ex-president Voronin labeled the incident as an alleged well-organized set-up, by the LDPM.
