USA wants to involve Moldova in non-military peacekeeping operations

The United States of America is willing to offer assistance to Moldova by providing a specialized training and aggrandizing the armed forces capabilities of Moldova.

The statement was made today during a meeting by Celeste A. Wallander, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia, who is visiting Moldova. The talks were conducted together with the Moldovan Premier Vlad Filat.

The most part of the discussion was focused on the partnership between Moldova and the USA, the sides emphasizing the dynamic evolution of their relation. The officials analyzed the professional training of the Moldovan troops, as well as the possibility to involve Moldova in non-military peacekeeping operations.

Ms. Wallander is currently serving in the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Policy as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia/Ukraine/Eurasia.
