US House approves landmark health care legislation
The U.S. House of Representatives approved landmark legislation to reform the health care insurance system in the United States Sunday evening, with Democrats pushing through President Barack Obama's top domestic priority.
No Republicans supported the legislation.
Supporters say the health care reform legislation will make health insurance available to more than 30 million Americans who do not have it. Critics say the changes will drive up costs and increase government intrusion in health care decisions.
The House is also voting on a reconciliation bill that resolves differences between House and Senate versions of the legislation.
