Urgent Letter of Concern on ongoing human rights violation
Human Rights NGOs and experts have filed a letter through which they express their concerned of the widespread violations of human rights, particularly of arrested persons, after elections. Each of the organisations, as well as individual lawyers working with them have documented concrete cases of such violations - see here the letter.
It was decided not to provide concrete names of the individuals who were beaten, intimidates or whose right to fair trial was vialotaed, because of the fears that these names could be used for further harrasment or beating (as in the case where the lawyer compained about beating and client was beaten for that once again). The organisations however, have CONCRETE and documented cases.
Evghenii Golosceapov was asked by the experts who sign this letter to distribute asap this letter and annexes. However, a number of e-mails are bouncing back. Therefore, please disseminate as widely as possible, particularly because of the interuptions in e-mail/internet communications these days in Moldova and temporary blockages of NGOs' websites. Your cooperation in this respect is indeed valuable.
I also add that this gorup of important Hman Rights experts and NGOs is additionally supported by other NGOs and experts, lawyers, who provide concrete cases and details to this group. Hence the number of those who did not sign, while actually working for the groups is laerger and undoubtedly representative to the human rights groups in Moldova.
Yours, from Moldova,
