UNDP helps equip Moldovan Parliament
The United Nations Development Program will continue its support for the Parliament of Moldova within the legislative forum development program, Kaarina Immonen, the UNDP Resident Representative and UN Resident Coordinator in Moldova, said during her meeting with Moldova's Acting President and Speaker of Parliament Marian Lupu here on Wednesday.
Lupu expressed gratitude to the UNDP for its providing computer and related equipment, for expert and consultative assistance, for organizing training trips abroad for Moldovan lawmakers and training courses for parliament apparatus employees.
The Moldovan Speaker said the elaboration and realization of the 2011-2013 strategic plan of the apparatus development is one of the forum's priorities, and the Parliament Permanent Bureau will analyze, at one of its nearest meetings, the apparatus' functionality.
Infotag's dossier: The project was launched on the Parliament's initiative shortly after the Parliament Building had been critically damaged and plundered out during the memorable post-election unrest in April 2009. The 4-year project has a budget of US$3 million. Financial assistance to it is provided by the Government of Denmark, the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), and the UNDP Moldova Office.
