Ukrainians voted in historic parliamentary elections
Ukrainian citizens were called to the polls on Sunday to cast their vote for parties to represent their interests in the Parliament. The exit-poll results calculated by five different research centers show that the Party of Regions would have received between 27.6% and 31.6% of votes, Batkivshchyna – 23.2% and 24.7%, Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform (UDAR) – 13.2% and 15.1%, the Communist Party of Ukraine – 11.5% and 13%, and Svoboda – 11% and 12.6%.
These are the parties which, according to the exit-polls, have passed the five percent threshold.
Some electors claimed several infringements during the voting procedures. An 18-year-old female student from Kiev, who is also a first-time voter, said she didn’t find herself on the main electoral list, although she had her permanent address in Kiev. The representatives of the DVK-800960 polling station in Kiev told the young woman that she should ask the authorities for explanations.
The foreign observers are expected to hold a conference on Monday afternoon where they will comment on the preliminary results and present the irregularities they have recorded. Some 3,500 foreign observers were accredited to monitor the elections.
