Ukraine to re-establish relations between Chisinau and Tiraspol
Ukraine wants a better approach between Chisinau and Tiraspol. Next week, in the Ukrainian city of Odessa, will take place an official meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Republic of Moldova and the Transnistrian side, informs the Ukrainian website Podrobnosti, which cites a diplomatic source.
According to the same source, Ukraine hardly works to solve the conflict in Transnistria, adding that they “have all the reasons to believe that Ukraine is the one who speaks aloud on the conflict management.” It also says that by virtue of Ukraine the dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol has been restarted.
“During the official visit of Evgheny Shevchuk, the leader from Tiraspol, and of the acting president of Moldova, Marian Lupu, we have agreed upon the availability to find a common solution to solve the Transnistrian conflict,” says an official from Kiev.
On Wednesday, January 18, Marian Lupu met with the Ukrainian president, Victor Yanukovici. The presidents have met three times in 2011.
