Ukraine, Moldova agree to demarcate border in rebel region
Ukraine and Moldova have agreed to start soon and complete in the shortest possible time the demarcation of the central (Dniester) sector of the Ukrainian-Moldovan state border.
The agreement was reached following consultations between Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Kostyantyn Yeliseyev and Moldovan Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Popov, which were held in Kiev on 28 November, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's press service said on 30 November.
The officials also agreed on the need to take real steps to boost the final completion of the agreement on the state border.
During the consultations, the agreement was also reached to take joint steps to maintain and enrich the Dniester river's ecosystem. The officials expressed readiness to sign a Ukrainian-Moldovan agreement which would ensure the rights of ethnic minorities.
Yeliseyev and Popov agreed to boost the settlement of mutu! al recognition of rights and regulations in property relations by signing a protocol to this effect soon.
