Ukraine expels 2 Czech diplomats
Ukraine's government has expelled two Czech embassy military attaches for alleged spying.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry summoned the Czech charge d'affaires in Kyiv Friday and handed him a note informing him of the decision. The ministry statement lodged an official protest, accusing the two of using their diplomatic status to gather Ukrainian state secrets.
The ministry added that it hopes such incidents will not be repeated and will not tarnish Ukraine's friendly relations with the Czech Republic.
The two Czechs were allegedly collecting information relating to aircraft.
Prague earlier this year angered Kyiv by awarding asylum to a former Ukrainian economy minister, who is wanted by Kyiv on charges of corruption.
