Two candidates applied for the presidential elections in Moldova
By Valeriu Gonta / Chisinau / Moldova.org / -- Moldova might have a president on January 15, 2012. Oazu Nantoi announced today in a press conference that he wants to stand for the presidential elections which will be organized on Sunday, according to Info-Prim Neo news agency.
“I am an apolitical person. I do not run any business. I do not hold the citizenship of any other countries. My intention is to be the president of everyone. I wish to be above the parliamentary parties’ competition and will not play the political games of any of the parties,” said Mr. Nantoi.
Oazu Nantoi is a respected political analyst in Moldova, a program manager at the Public Policy Institute and is also an expert in the Transnistrian conflict.
Nantoi’s candidature isn’t the only one for the presidential elections of January 15. The Communist Party has also proposed a candidate for the position of president. His name is Leonid Talmaci. He was the first governor of the central bank of Moldova after the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
“We have identified the best candidature for the president position. The candidate is apolitical and a professional,” said Iurie Muntean, a Communist deputy.
So far, there are only two candidates for the presidential elections. They will be held on January 15, 2012.
