Transnistrian law enforcement bodies set illegal checking posts

Moldovan representatives in the Joint Control Commission (JCC) are concerned about actions undertaken by the Transnistrian law enforcement bodies, which have set checking posts despite the fact that the joint peacekeeping forces had closed them down. This is an infringement of the normative acts of the peacekeeping process.

Members of the Moldovan delegation in the Joint Control Commission have said that at the meeting held on 13 January the Transnistrian side refused to discuss this subject. Also, the Moldovan representatives are indignant at the fact that one vehicle belonging to the joint peacekeeping forces had been blocked by the Transnistrian border guards. This is an infringement of the JCC decision on free movement of the peacekeepers in the security zone.

The Moldovan side made an appeal to all the JCC members, specifying that "the subversive position and lies of the Transnistrian delegation pose a real threat to stability in the security zone."

One of the few points on the agenda approved at the meeting of the Joint Control Commission was the appointment of the military attachй at the Ukrainian Embassy, Lieutenant-Colonel Vladimir Talicov, as JCC member.
