Transnistria defenders want Smirnov as President once again

The Dubasari Raion subdivision of the Union of the Defenders of Transnistria has stated its "unconditional support for the current course of the Transnist rian Moldovan Republic's political and economic development, and for nominating Igor Smirnov as candidate for president of the republic at the 2011elections".

In its statement published on Monday, the Union addressed to all citizens associations, political parties and individual citizens to support Smirnov as a presidential candidate at the forthcoming elections.

The statement authors wrote they infinitely trust in the "people's president Smirnov" and are convinced that precisely thank to the mutual trust that existed and is existing between the people and the president, the Republic was defended and saved in 1990-1992, and in subsequent 2 decades Transnistria managed to overcome all appearing hardships and problems "despite the purposeful economic and political pressure put by our enemies".

The Transnistria defenders presume that Moldovan politicians "don't care about the hardships and aspirations of the grassroots, for they need nothing but power. To grasp the power, they are ready for everything - to diametrically change their political outlooks, forget the history of their own people, or sell out the Motherland".

"They deny the self-identity of the Moldovan people and the Moldavian language. They call liberation an occupation, Soviet liberator warriors - occupants, and Romanian fascists - liberators. They recognize as heroes and decorate with supreme state awards the mere terrorists, who killed patriots and peaceful citizens of Transnistria. These Moldovan politicians and their foreign puppeteers will never stop in their attempts to liquidate our Republic and all of us us by using whatever means", presume the Transnistria defenders.

They are convinced that Igor Smirnov has always been and will continue to be a genuinely people's president tested by time and in concrete deeds.
