Transnistria amending legislation to get closer to Russia - Smirn
The legislation of the Transnistrian Moldovan Republic, including certainly its constitution, is persistently amended to harmonize it to a maximum-possible extent with the legislation of the Russian Federation, the region's president Igor Smirnov stated at the congress of Transnistria defenders that was held in Dubossary town last Sunday.
In his words, all bodies and people concerned - the constitution commission, the ministry of justice and all who took part in the ongoing constitution amendment work - are taking into due account everything what took place and continues to happen in Moldova and Ukraine.
"Yes we have got harmonized substantially with the Russian legislation. What for? In order to get integrated into the Russian Federation easily", said Igor Smirnov.
He admitted that the region's industrial sector comes across difficulties caused by the world financial and economic crisis and the permanent pressure put on Transnistria by the Republic of Moldova.
Smirnov called upon Transnistria defenders to avoid dispersing their forces and to join and consolidate them.
"The present time is of course quite hard, and we live under a constant pressure, but nobody can say that Transnistria has been split. Each of us ought to realize that this is precisely what our external enemies are expecting from us", said the Transnistrian leader.
Infotag's dossier: In December 2011, the self-proclaimed Transnistrian republic will hold its ordinary presidential elections. The Transnistria Defenders' Union has already stated it will be supporting the candidacy of Igor Smirnov, who has been ruling Transnistria since 1990.
