Tiraspol official: Negotiations over Transnistrian conflict might be cancelled
Chisinau/ Moldova.ORG/ -- Nina Stanski, the head of the negotiation team of Tiraspol in the “5+2 format”, blames Chisinau on the grounds of threatening the negotiations between sides.
“The negotiation which were previously planned for February 2012, might be cancelled because of Moldova which generates tensions at Vadul lui Voda checkpoint,” said Mrs. Stanski.
According to Radio Chisinau, Nina Stanski says that the statesmen from Chisinau do nothing else but provoking the Transnistrian side, demanding the replacement of the peacekeeping forces with an international mission of civil observers, fact which will never by accepted by Tiraspol.
On January 1, 2012, an 18-year-old man was fatally killed by the Russian peacekeepers deployed in Vadul lui Voda, a town located on the West side of the Nistru River. Several protests followed, the people demanding the withdrawal of the Russian troops and the removal of the checkpoint.
