Three parties ready for dialog on forming governing coalition
The newly elected parliamentary Liberal Democratic Party, Democratic Party and Liberal Party stand ready to commence negotiations on forming a new democratic governing coalition.
Honorable Chairman of the Democratic Party MP Dumitru Diacov stated to your Infotag correspondent that the Democrats feel more like making such coalition with the Liberal Democratic Party rather than with the Communists.
"We know the Communist Party is going to offer creating a MCP/DP coalition, but, honestly speaking, we expected something different. We are looking forward to hearing proposals from the democratic wing - from the Liberal Democrats, not from the MCP. The Democrats and Liberal Democrats are able to jointly launch and develop an excellent project for the republic. So it is essential for us to hear a proposal from the LDPM, and we are waiting for it", said Dumitru Diacov.
Touching on the November 28 election results, the politician said he would certainly wish a different voting outcome.
"The results we have are indeed complicating our life. We expected the Moldovan people would vote a bit differently - not the way they did twice in 2009. Now we have a fairly complicated situation, which will require from us to arrive at a reasonable compromise to overcome the continuing political crisis", said Dumitru Diacov.
The Liberal Party Chairman, Moldova's Acting President Mihai Ghimpu stated categorically that the Liberals rule out whatever cooperation with the Communist Party.
"Even if the Communists propose a neutral, respected candidate for presidency, or even my party Deputy, my nephew, Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca - even in such case we shall not vote for him because this will be a Communist candidature. I have always been and remain an advocate of preserving the Alliance for European Integration, its name and formation principles", stated Mihai Ghimpu.
Ghimpu said he is waiting for proposals to come from the Liberal Democratic Party, "which should stand up as initiator of creating a renovated governing coalition, because this united force has won a majority of seats in the new parliament".
Moldova Noastră Alliance leader Serafim Urechean has been profoundly upset with the election outcome, for his organization has received only 2.05% ballots, and has become an extra-parliamentary party.
"It is really a pity, but such was the Moldovan people's choice, and we must agree to it. As a matter of fact, Moldovan democratic forces have little reason for rejoicing: even if the democratic coalition is preserved, it will not have 61 mandates, so it will be not able to elect a president. This means that the situation will be very hard", said Serafim Urechean.
